Edgbarrow students win Sky Up Storytelling Award!

We are thrilled to announce that, after being shortlisted for their outstanding creative film pitch developed during their visit to Elstree Studies in January, our Edgbarrow Sky Up team were awarded the Gold Prize at the Sky Up Academy Studios Celebration of Storytelling Event!

Our talented students Evie Corley, Jodie Ferguson, Tom Forrester, Izzy Gore, Tobi Kilvington, Kiera Price and Harry Thwaites presented their idea to a packed cinema at Sky’s headquarters and were hosted by the CEO of Sky Studios and Chief Content Officer, Cécile Frot-Coutaz and Head of Young People at Sky, Nishy Lall.

The judging panel included: Chris Foggin – Director & Screenwriter, Devesh Raj – Chief Operating Officer at Sky, and Laura Grange – Commissioning Manager of Original Films at Sky & Executive Producer. They also got a special message from Ashley Walters (from Top Boy and Adolescence).

A huge congratulations to our amazing students who showed incredible dedication, creativity, and resilience—often working late nights to refine their pitch. Their hard work truly paid off, beating 6,000 students to the top prize!

We couldn’t be prouder of our students and their achievement in such a competitive and inspiring environment! We are also delighted to be the first-ever school to receive this prestigious accolade! A special thank you goes to the fantastic support from our Year 9 and 10 Drama students, whose presence and encouragement helped make the day even more memorable. Thanks also to Miss Carr, our Head of Performing Arts, for her huge time and effort in supporting the group and leading the visits.
