  • Targeted invitation to join the Business Mentoring Programme
  • CV preparation and mock interview with a member of the local business community
  • Parent/Carers asked to organise 2 days’ work shadowing in the summer term

Year 11

  • Careers assemblies - one in the autumn term and one in the spring term
  • Tutor time and PSHE sessions exploring Post-16 choices; letter sent to parents/carers at the beginning of the autumn term detailing what next and college and sixth form open events.
  • Independent Careers Adviser Drop-in Sessions
  • All Year 11s will be offered a 1:2:1 appointment with an independent careers adviser. We aim for all students to have received an appointment by February half term
  • Appointments with Independent Careers Adviser at Student Progress Evening
  • Careers noticeboards and specific subject-related careers noticeboards

  • Invited to attend the annual Careers Convention in March
  • Students are invited to join the Year 11 Careers Google Classroom to access information on employer events, webinars and work experience/shadowing opportunities.

Careers Guidance

Edgbarrow School buys in careers guidance from an external, impartial careers guidance adviser.  All students will be offered careers guidance in-line with the Department of Educations ‘Careers Guidance and access for education and training providers’ statutory guidance issued in May 2025. 

This will be delivered in a range of ways including via group workshops, 1:2:1 appointments, during PSHE, at Student Progress Evenings, assemblies and the annual careers convention.  Students, Parents and Carers can access further information to support careers research and option choices via the school website
